Alright, Earlier this morning I was in a friends lobby duplicated a couple items for him when some guy joins, the guy imediatly heads towards the slot machines and hes winning Orange weapons (Three borderlands symbols) every single time.

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel added a few new features to those familiar to the series. One of the coolest is the Grinder. This lets you put in 3 items, then combine them to make a new, sometimes better, item.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to using this machine at first glance, but as you experiment, you notice there are certain recipes. These aren't recipes for specific gun, but rather gun types, such as a sniper rifle or rocket launcher. You can even get new legendaries by using it!
I'll explain exactly how the Grinder works, recipes for getting what you want, and tips on using it. For other guides and tips, check out my Borderlands Pre Sequel Beginner's Guide: Tips for Conquering Elphis.
- Between the grinder and the fixes to vending machines in the Pre-Sequel, the slot machine is kind of pointless except to get skins or convert a ton of cash to a few moonstones. White FC 0260 9873.

This guide will cover everything about the Grinder including:
- Unlocking the Grinder - How and when you unlock it.
- How to use the Grinder - What you can put in the Grinder.
- Grinder Recipes - The current known recipes for the Grinder
- Grinder Tips - Tips on getting what you want from the Grinder.
Unlocking the Grinder
The Grinder is located in the main city, Concordia, in Janey Springs' workshop. When you first reach Concordia, she isn't there yet. You have to continue the main story until you come back to Concordia and Janey is there.
She will have a side-quest called, 'Grinders' that is level 11 on your first play through. After completing this mission, you will unlock the ability to sue the Grinder. After doing this, if you start True Vault Hunter Mode, you won't need to do the quest again to use it.
How to use the Grinder
Using the Grinder is simple, you put in 3 items, press the grind button, then get out a new item. The items, most of the time, have to be the same type and rarity to grind. This means that you have to use either all weapons, class mods, grenade mods, Oz kits, or shields. You can't mix any of those. The rarity is the color of the item. For example if you use a blue item, all must be blue.
The exception is grinding legendary items. You can grind 2 legendary items and 1 purple to get a new legendary. There is a list later in this guide that shows recipes. Also, check out my How to Get Legendaries guide for more details.
When using the Grinder, you can either get an item of the same quality, or one level higher. This means that if you grind 3 blue items, you can either get another blue item, or a purple item.
Moonstone Grind
You can also choose to use moonstones when using the grinder. This gives you the highest possible quality item out of the 3 items you put in the Grinder. So using this with 3 blue items will always give you a purple item.
You also get a chance to have an extra effect on your item called Luneshine. Here is a list of possible Luneshine effects:
Borderlands Pre Sequel Level Cap
- Higher Maximum Shields
- Reduced O2 consumption rate
- Extra Grenade damage
- Extra Experience from killing enemies
- Restores shields from killing enemies
- Higher Critical hit damage
- Restores O2 from damaging enemies
- Chance to ignore enemy shields
Grinder Recipes
If you put in 3 guns at random, there is no telling what you'll get, but if you follow the recipes below, you can get the desired item every time. All of these recipes have to have the same rarity type, except when grinding legendaries.
Gun Types
- SMG - Pistol, Assault Rifle, and Shield.
- Rocket Launcher - Any 2 weapons and a grenade mod.
- Assault Rifle - SMG, Sniper Rifle, and Shield.
- Sniper Rifle - Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Shield.
- Shotgun - SMG, Pistol, and Shield.
Rarity Types
Note: This is for using moonstones. If you use normal grind you can still get these result, but there is a chance you'll get a lower rarity.
- Green (Random) - 3 different white weapons.
- Green (Specific)- 2 white weapons of the same type and 1 weapon of any type.
- Blue(Random) - 3 different green weapons.
- Blue (Specific)- 2 green weapons of thesame type and 1 green weapon of any type.
- Purple(Random) - 3 different blue weapons.
- Purple (Specific)- 2 blue weapons of thesame type and 1 blue weapon of any type.
- Legendary Weapon (Specific) - 2 legendary weapons of any type and 1 purple weapon. Whichever purple you choose will be the type of weapon you get out.
You can also grind shields, class mods, grenade mods, and Oz kits using the above recipes. I haven't tried grinding a legendary item besides a weapon, so I'm not sure if it works for these as well.
Grinder Tips
Here are a few tips to remember when using the Grinder:
- ALWAYS use moonstone grind when grinding Legendaries. You don't want to end up with a purple item and waste 2 legendaries.
- Use your highest level items. The level of the item produced is an average of the 3 items put into the Grinder.
- Pick up several items. You never know what you might want to grind later.
- Use moonstones when you can. If you can afford to, use moonstones always. The chance to get Luneshine makes the weapons even better.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (released as Borderlands: The Legendary Collection on Nintendo Switch) is a compilation of first-person shooter video games developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. The Handsome Collection consists of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, along with all of their accompanying downloadable content, enhanced local multiplayer, and the ability to transfer save data from their respective PlayStation 3 (Both Borderlands 2 & Pre-Sequel)/Vita/PSVR and Xbox 360 versions. A port to the Nintendo Switch entitled The Legendary Collection was released in North America on May 29, 2020, which additionally includes the first Borderlands.[3] For The Handsome Collection, Borderlands 2 was ported by Iron Galaxy Studios and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel by Armature Studio.[4][5][6]The Legendary Collection port was handled by Turn Me Up Games and Behaviour Interactive.[7]
Development and release[edit]
To maintain consistency with the previous installments in the franchise, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel—a follow up set between the first two games in Gearbox Software's Borderlands franchise developed by 2K Australia, was only released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. In July 2014, prior to the game's release, 2K Australia's head Tony Lawrence reiterated that there was a possibility that The Pre-Sequel could be ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—gauged by fan demand and sales.[8]
In December 2014, it was reported that a game titled Borderlands Remastered Edition, which was presumed to be a Borderlands port to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, had received a rating from the Australian Classification Board. No other details had been announced at that point. The discovery drew comparisons to other 'remastered' ports of recent previous generation games to the consoles, including Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, fellow Take-Two Interactive title Grand Theft Auto V, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.[9][10]
The compilation was announced on January 20, 2015, as The Handsome Collection, for a release in North America on March 24, 2015, and elsewhere on March 27, 2015.[11] A limited 'Claptrap-in-a-Box' edition was also announced; this US$399 bundle includes lithographs of the playable characters from both games, a Steelbook case for the game, and a remote-controlled version of the robot character Claptrap; it can be controlled from an Android or iOS device using the 'ClaptrApp', features a single wheel and gyroscopic stabilization, can play Claptrap's in-game quotes, and has a camera in its eye that can be viewed from within the app.[12] Only 5,000 copies of this edition were produced.[13]
The compilation does not include the first Borderlands: speaking at PAX South, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford stated that they may consider creating a port of the original game if The Handsome Collection is 'wildly successful'.[14]Borderlands received a separate remaster for PS4 and Xbox One (as well as an accompanying update to the PC version on Steam) in 2019.[15][16]
On March 18, 2015, Gearbox Software and 2K Games confirmed that the game had been declared gold, indicating it was being prepared for duplication and release.[17]
Borderlands Pre Sequel Slot Machine Ps4 Controllers
On March 26, 2020, Nintendo announced that a port of The Handsome Collection will be released along side Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition.[18] It was released on May 29, 2020, both physically and digitally.[3]

Changes[edit]
Both games in The Handsome Collection feature remastered graphics, and are capable of running at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second when playing with one or two local players. The games are also capable of local split-screen multiplayer with up to four players, rather than the two-player limit of the previous-generation versions; four-player mode will reduce the frame rate to 30 frames per second.[11][13] On April 3, 2019, a patch was released to add 4K support for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.[19]
Save data from the previous-generation versions of 2 or The Pre-Sequel (including characters and Badass Rank) can be migrated to The Handsome Collection from the PlayStation 3 (both games support Cross-Save) and Vita (Borderlands 2 only) versions to PlayStation 4, and the Xbox 360 version to Xbox One.[11] Both games include all of their respective downloadable content—such as campaigns and additional playable characters. Claptastic Voyage—a campaign for The Pre-Sequel that was released on the same day as The Handsome Collection, is not included on-disc, but is a free download.[20][21]

Reception[edit]
Reception | ||||||||||||||

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection received positive reviews from critics. Aggregating review websites Metacritic gave the PlayStation 4 version 82/100 based on 49 reviews.[22]
IGN gave the compilation an 8.4 out of 10, praising the performance of its Borderlands 2 port for being 'rock solid'. Some issues were noted, including that the inventory menu in four-player mode was not scaled to fit the smaller amount of screen space, The Pre-Sequel had inconsistent frame rates, and users are unable to switch between the two games without rebooting it entirely, concluding that 'Minor quibbles aside, The Handsome Collection is a great package for any console-bound Borderlands fan.'[25]GamesRadar was also positive, praising the extent of content available, but criticized minor framerate issues and that no significant new features were added.[24]
