Much of Oregon is closing down for business to combat the spread of the coronavirus, but you can still gamble at the state’s casinos.
Spirit Mountain Casino in Grande Ronde and Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City are continuing regular hours.
“Everything is normal,” said a Spirit Mountain employee who answered the phone Tuesday morning.
Both Spirit Mountain and Chinook Winds say they are taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously and that they have increased cleaning of high-traffic areas and frequent-touch items such as slot machines. Chinook Winds says it has begun to “pre-screen all children arriving at the Play Palace with a no-touch thermometer. Any child exhibiting signs of fever or illness will not be allowed admittance.”
Spirit Mountain has postponed its Wine Fair, originally scheduled for April 4, but live music on Friday and Saturday nights will continue.
Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville is staying open at this time, though the six-days-a-week Bingo games have been suspended and most of the restaurants are closed. The Three Rivers casinos in Florence and Bend also remain open.
Washington state has been hard-hit by the coronavirus outbreak, and so ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield is closing Tuesday.
Said ilani president and general manager Kara Fox-LaRose in a statement:
“Despite dedicating additional resources for sanitation efforts and limiting certain aspects of our operations, it is apparent that the correct response to this public health crisis is to do our part in slowing its progression.”
